It’s hot and it’s cold, it’s yes and it’s no, its wrong and right, some more opposites, some lines from a katy perry song, etc and you’ve got the current forecast…
*yay*
……
but good thing if you live in missouri the meteorologists legit all year round predict a 50 percent chance of anything you can imagine climate wise so they pretty much live for moments like these. and us common people are always expecting the best case / worse case scenario.
which brings me to this couch potato of a dessert (wait, how did we just switch gears from weather to dessert?). Because this weather was FREEZING over the past weekend, stay at home never leave your house kind of cold (or basically, Winter) and baby child was needing a distraction (ahem, mom was desperately needing a distraction from cabin fevered toddler) and so couch + Ralph Breaks the Internet + Sugar Rush inspired dessert was calling both of our names.
We were fortunate enough to team up with Walt Disney to help spread the word of the release for Ralph Breaks the Internet that’s coming to rental / dvd on 2/26 by creating a treat of our choice inspired by our favorite game from the movie (Sugar Rush, because Vanellope von Schweetz….and well… sweets (schweetz) galore … duh).
David wanted ice cream, I suggested strawberries and waffles, and he came back at me with some strawberry ice cream with waffles, topped with a stream of syrup and a cherry on top. A star was born.
What could have been a day filled with a gassy dog and child running around the house screaming fart songs, became a memorable and enjoyable afternoon together in the kitchen and then a better than the movie theater at home from your couch type of treat.
(pro tip: the ice cream should be made the night before, which you can do as a surprise, and then you can always make the waffles together, scoop the homemade ice cream and let them decorate the living crap out of the waffles with syrup, sprinkles, cherries, you name it).
Also if you’re looking for a healthier waffle option (this is the time to do it, balance!) you can try this one here.
